Top London department store, Harrods, synonymous with luxury, excellence, and service for over 150 years, has announced the launch of the exclusive limited-edition TAG Heuer Autavia.
Featuring a white dial and black sub-dials, the Autavia is one of the most iconic drivers’ chronographs from the 1960s. The Autavia, – a portmanteau of the words AUTomobile and AVIAtion – was first launched in 1933 and attracted praise from early sports car enthusiasts for its timekeeping functions. Three decades later in 1962, Jack Heuer, the fourth-generation head of the company, created his first wrist sports chronograph.
For many, the Autavia remains more symbolic of the automotive side of TAG Heuer than for aviation with the likes of Steve McQueen wearing the Monaco model in the movie Le Mans.
The new release has a 42mm polished steel case and is powered by a Heuer 02 caliber. Based on last year’s Autavia, the panda dial is one of the most recognizable around, with three black azure subdials on white lacquer. The indexes and hour/minute hands are finished with a rhodium-plated beige superluminova. Water resistant to 100 meters, the watch is limited to just 150 pieces.
This special Harrods edition will have ‘Harrods Limited Edition xxx/150’ engraved on its sapphire case back so as to represent the partnership.
